Lone Star Quarter Horse Association

Welcome to the Lone Star Quarter Horse Association website!

July 1, 2006

Dear Stallion Owners, Mare Owners, LSQHA Members, Futurity Participants and Long time Loyal Friends:

With regret, the Lone Star Quarter Horse Association must announce, we will be unable to hold our Fall Futurity Festival & AQHA horse shows during September 2006 .

We applied to AQHA in December 2005,  asking that our shows be allowed to move to the Waco Facility, even if it meant changing dates during the month of September.   We have recently been notified by AQHA that we will not be allowed to move our AQHA shows to Waco due to a conflict with Abilene , which is within a 300 mile radius.

This has become a financial decision.  We do not feel we can sponsor the Futurities without the support of the AQHA horse shows.   It is the stall rental that helps us pay for the facility, judges, advertising, special awards and other horse show expenses.  We have always strived to use the bulk of the Futurity Entry Fees as prize money.

Lone Star will continue as an outstanding organization.  We have our AQHA shows scheduled for April 2007 in Athens , and will try to work out other possibilities for next fall.  In addition, we plan to have the following LSQHA Futurities in April - Yearling Halter Classes, 3 Year Old Pleasure Classes and possibly 2 Year Old Longe Line Classes.

Everyone—thank you for your continued support and we look forward to any ideas you might have which would help us continue our efforts.

Sincerely,

Sherry L. Gullatt, President                        Janice Clevenger, Futurity Chairman

The Lone Star Quarter Horse Association is a non-profit organization with approximately 400 members in Open, Amateur and Youth Divisions.  There are 25 Quarter Horse Shows approved each year for our Year-End Award Program.

LSQHA produces two major Quarter Horse Events: The Lone Star QHA Spring Fling Quarter Horse Show, held in April in Athens, Texas; and the Lone Star QHA Fall Futurity Extravaganza.  The Fall Futurity Extravaganza was in the Top 15 in 1994 & 1995, and the Top 10 in 1996 - 2004.  The Fall Futurity has been NSBA Approved and hosted the NSBA Stallion Incentive Classes in 1995-2005, and awarded over $100,000 in Prizes and Awards.

We also have a Stallion Service Auction with approximately 100 stallion services donated.  The revenue goes to the Futurity Program where offspring by donated stallions receive over $30,000 annually in awards.

The Amateurs support both the Spring and Fall Shows by conducting Team Tournaments, which include the Youth, and also coordinating popular Trail Stakes classes.

The Spring Fling Show will honor Year-End Award Winners with $12,000 in Year-End Awards.  There is a Hospitality area with food and drinks for everyone; and the Trail Stakes.  It's a great chance to meet other LSQHA members.

We also offer a Year-Round Sponsorship Program with a level for everyone!  These sponsorships provide support for all LSQHA programs.

And lsqha.com provides information on upcoming events, show approval dates, year-end point status, and other topics of interest.
